What are we about?
CUOC is an orienteering club for members of Cambridge University.
Membership usually varies around 40 members, ranging from complete beginners to British Champions. The club subsidises transport
to events, so it can provide a very cheap escapade from Cambridge
to see some of the more interesting parts of the English
countryside.
To find out more, have a read of our Introduction to Orienteering page.
If you want to know about the events that are going on, the best way to do that is to join our mailing
list, where information about all of the events gets posted.
Who are we?
Meet the 2007/2008 Committee, those
jolly people who do all the hard work to keep the club going.
What do we get up to?
During term time, we go to events
that other orienteering clubs put on most weekends, with the odd whole weekend trip
away. At the end of Michaelmas term, we go away on a training tour to
somewhere like the Lake District. The annual Varsity Match against Oxford is usually held in Lent term, as is
the intercollegiate Cuppers competition. See the events page
for details of what is coming up this term...
Apart from the above, CUOC also organises two events of its very
own: the legendary Sprint-O in
November, and the mega Icenian event in early
February.
Our training officer organises training sessions every week
during term, including tea runs, reps and
whatever else people are inclined to do throughout the year. Feel free
to email to find out what's going on. Many of our club members also
train with the CUH&H.
If it's the social side of things that you're looking for, there's
plenty that goes on in CUOC too! Most of the year round there are
regular PubOs (pub-meets), before Christmas we organise the annual
Dinner Crawl, and the summer term is busy with the Annual Dinner and a
May Week PuntO and barbeque.
Further events can be found on the British Orienteering Federation (BOF)
fixtures lists. Or see the links page for more information on other
orienteering clubs' events. As event details advertised on this page
may change, it is a good idea to sign up for the club mailing list to
find out any extra details.
What have we done in the past?
The CUOC website has a large archive of past Cuppers and Varsity
Match results, which contains past Cuppers
and Varsity match results, and club history. For the more recent
goings-on (including all of the frolicsome gossip, of course!), consult
one of the more recent journals, also on the archive page!
