[Stow-cum-Quy]
This is genuine fen country out there: wide fields, surrounding hedges, intricate trees, man-made drainage canals, be it small or big ones, and on top of all, not a soul for miles.

5 miles (one way) - Out of town via Newmarket Road towards Cambridge Airport. Turn left at the traffic lights at the City Cemetery (signposted to Fen Ditton, Horningsea and Waterbeach). Passing through Fen Ditton and over the A14, you get directly to Horningsea.

Alternatively, cycle (or even run) down the towpath along the river (compare the run down the River Cam). However, this route is a bit slow going (although much more enjoyable) and it is kind of awkward to get the bike over the two bridges at Baits Bite Lock.
[Start] North end of Horningsea (on the main road; after the last houses on the right, watch for a public footpath signpost) - 5 miles return.

Sorry no map ... I'm not sure there will ever be one since I have more important things to do right now. Check out an OS map or go exploring without a map. You won't be disappointed - unless you get lost that is ...

[Route] Basically eastwards from the north end of Horningsea. You have to go past farm land first and it will take a while before you get into the nice bits. However, once you are there it's excellent, exciting, stimulating, calming, and somewhat mysterious...

Sorry haven't explored any extensions yet - and I probably never will. Nevertheless, I am aware of some footpaths going on to Anglesey Abbey in Lode (further east) and I expect they are just as nice.

Two. Certainly one of the nicest places to go for a run in the Cambridge area. Unfortunately, the long time it takes to actually get there is a bit of a letdown.
