Cambridge University Orienteering Club
Socials

Social events are organised on a regular basis

For details of upcoming socials see the events list or contact the social secretary

Lunches

Once a week, we generally meet at somebody's house for lunch. People take in turns of buying the food and it's a good chance to talk to everybody in the club without it taking up too much time.

May Week Event

At the end of the year, in May week, the club always holds an event in a novel format. In the past this has been in the form of a Punt-O event, followed by a BBQ. The exact rules depend on the organiser, but the event can involve running, punting along the river, swimming, pub-O, micro-O, or pretty much any kind of O you can think of! Depending on the organiser, extra points may be given for silly things like bridge-jumping!

The Dinnercrawl

2011DinnerCrawlSmall During Lent term, before the training tour, we organise a dinner event as a club, where as many members as possible from the club host a course in their residence, as part of a roving meal (in 2011 it was 9 courses). This is a great chance to get together after 5th-week blues to chill and eat delicious food at each stop. One time we even had vodka-soaked chillis as one of our courses at someones dodgy flat...

Annual Dinner

The Annual Dinner

Of course, a seminal social event does exist. The annual dinner is a chance for high-jinks and to eat some decent cuisine and often takes place in a private function room, away from the student crowds of college hall. It's traditional for the captain to give out silly prizes to everyone present. It really is the highlight of the orienteering year, where we might club together somewhere afterwards...ssh,cindies
